It appears that, despite all good efforts, ICN is (for all practical purposes) no more. Messages are sporadic, most members have disappeared. It's sad... A revival would be in order, but how?

Who will fight the evil DM's darkness when ICN is no more? It's again, I guess, the right time for 'heroes wanted'...

Please?

In spite of the demise of ICN a large section of this website is dedicated to Role Playing Games, because they are, especially in this time of high tech computer stuff, very popular.
 

Het lijkt erop dat, ondanks alle goede bedoelingen, ICN niet 'echt' meer bestaat. Berichten zijn zeldzaam, de meeste leden zijn verdwenen. Het is triest... Een revival zou op zijn plaats zijn, maar hoe?

Wie bestrijd de gemene DM's als ICN er niet meer is? Het is opnieuw, denk ik, de juiste tijd voor 'helden gezocht'...

Alstjeblieft?

Ondanks het afsterven van ICN is een groot deel van deze website toegewijd aan Role Playing Games, omdat ze, vooral in deze tijd van high tech computer stuff, erg populair zijn.

(Behalve dan in Nederland, zucht...)

There is no such thing as an 'official' logo or an 'official' web page (yet). Perhaps this could be a start?

Er is (nog) niet zoiets als een 'officieel' logo of een 'officiele' web page. Misschien dat dit een eerste begin mag zijn?
 

ICN is a public 'network' where Role Playing Game enthousiasts can meet eachother on the net, and play role playing games using email. (Follow that link if you don't know what RPG's are aLL about.)

That is something totally different from computergames.

ICN exists in two flavors: ICN1, Fido style network, and as ICN2: a mailing list.

Access to both is free and for everybody.
 

ICN is een publiek 'netwerk' waar Rollenspel liefhebbers elkaar kunnen ontmoeten op het net, en role playing games kunnen spelen via email. (Volg die link als je niet weet wat RPG's zijn.)

Dat is dus iets heel anders als een computerspel.

ICN bestaat in twee smaken: ICN1,  een Fido stijl netwerk, en als ICN2: een mailing list.

Toegang tot beiden is gratis en voor iedereen.
 

Although easier and more practical in use, the FIDO style network (also known as ICN1) is slowly dying. There are still some games being played, and participants are still welcome.

Please note: ICN1 is mainly dutch, and operates ony in the Netherlands. Foreigners might better check ICN2, the mailing list on the InterNet. ICN2 might have a better future as well.

Simply put: with the demise of Fido style networks, the millennium and the rising price of beer... ICN1 is dying and expected to be gone one day...
 

Hoewel gemakkelijker en meer praktisch in gebruik, is het FIDO stijl netwerk (ook bekend als ICN1) langzaam stervende. Er worden nog steeds een aantal spellen gespeeld, en nieuwe deelnemers zijn nog altijd welkom.

Opmerking: ICN1 is voornamelijk nederlands, en opereert alleen in Nederland. Buitenlanders kunnen beter eens naar ICN2 kijken, de mailing list op het InterNet. ICN2 heeft bovendien mogelijk een betere toekomst.

Simpel gezegd: met het verdwijnen van Fido stijl netwerken is ICN1 stervende en zal ooit verdwijen...

You can easily subscribe to the ICN InterNet mailing list. Once subscribed, you can participate in chats about RPG's, or play games.

It will mean that you will get email messages by all members on the list, and all those members will see your email messages.
 

Je kunt gemakkelijk deelnemen aan de ICN InterNet mailing list. Wanneer je ingeschreven bent kun je deelnamen aan gesprekken over RPG's, of spellen spelen.

Het betekent dat je email messages ontvangt van alle deelnemers aan de lijst, en dat zij jouw berichten zullen zien.
 

This is an old page only kept up for the sake of completeness, and in memoriam something that was great fun. ICN is no more. Forget these links, it's over.

Nothing is easier than that. All you have to do is send out an email message to icn-rpg@gmx.net, or to the DM / GM in question. Please include all relevant information, like your email address, and which list(s).

Once subscribed to a specific mailing list, you send your messages to that specific mailing list address (further below). Your messages will then be distributed to all other members of that list.

Do not subscribe with temporary addresses or start spamming or flaming. You will be banned immediately.

Robert Elsingaand Bluez were maintaining the list(s). We would appreciate it if you would only use the lists for what they are intended for...
 

Dit is een oude pagina ter nagedachtenis van ICN. ICN is niet meer. Het is voorbij. Vergeet deze links en instructies.

Niets is gemakkelijker dan dat. Alles wat je hoeft te doen is een bericht te zenden aan icn-rpg@gmx.net, of aan de DM / GM in kwestie. Inclusief alle relevante informatie alstjeblieft, zoals je email adres, en welke lijst(en).

Eenmaal ingeschreven op een specifieke mailing list, stuur je je berichten naar het adres van die specifieke mailing list (volgt hieronder). Je berichten worden dan verspreid over alle andere leden van die lijst.

Schrijf niet in met een tijdelijk adres, en ga niet 'spammen' (het zenden van ongewenste / ongepaste email) of 'flamen' (het zenden van beledigende opmerkingen). Je zult onmiddelijk van de lijst uitgesloten worden.

Robert Elsinga en Bluez waren de beheerders van de lijst(en). Wij zouden het op prijs stellen als je de lijsten alleen zou gebruiken waarvoor ze bedoeld zijn...
 

When replying to a message coming from the list, you could use 'reply to sender and all recipients' (if your email program supports this) meaning that you will send out one message to the list, and another one to the author of the original message. That person would get the message double... however, it saves on typo's, and improves speed...
 

Als je gebruik maakt van de functie 'reply to sender and all participants' (als je email programma dat ondersteund) bij het beantwoorden van een bericht, gaat je bericht naar de lijst, en een keer extra naar de afzender van het oorspronkelijke bericht. Dat betekent dat de afzender het bericht dubbel krijgt... maar het betekent ook dat de kans op een foutief ingevoerd email adres veel kleiner is, en maakt alles een beetje sneller...
 

Please note: the '%' percentage sign in some of the mail addresses can confuse your browser...

Pas op: sommige browsers hebben problemen met het '%' percentage teken in enkele van de mail adressen...

If you want to spread the word, and tell the world about the existence of ICN, you can include one of the ICN logo's on your web page, and/or link to this site or page.

Not that that would make much sense now ICN is no more...
 

Als je de naam van ICN wilt verspreiden, dan kun je een van de ICN logo's op je web page zetten, en/of linken naar deze site of pagina.

Niet dat dat veel zin meer heeft nu ICN er niet meer is...
